Regular incorporation into sex

Two patterns worth pulling out directly: regular toy use drops sharply with age, from 33% among 18–34-year-olds to just 9% among those 55+. And sexually satisfied Canadians were more likely to regularly use toys than unsatisfied ones (26% vs. 17%) — correlation, not evidence that toys cause the satisfaction.
Lifetime use is a very different number
Source: a peer-reviewed Canadian study of 1,435 participants, recruited online and overwhelmingly cisgender women — not a nationally representative probability sample. Wording changes the headline number dramatically, which is exactly why we're stating both instead of picking whichever sounds better:
Among participants in that study specifically, 39.2% had ever inserted a toy vaginally, and among toy users specifically, that rises to 76.3%. 21.7% of toy users reported sharing toys with a partner — worth reading alongside our cleaning and storage guide, since shared use is exactly the scenario proper cleaning matters most for.
Source: a 2025 peer-reviewed Quebec study of 1,959 adults found toy use more common among women, younger people, and gay/bi/pansexual respondents, with users reporting higher sexual satisfaction than non-users — directional findings only, since the publicly available abstract doesn't expose exact prevalence percentages.
Which toys, specifically (lower confidence)
Source: two small, non-representative Canadian surveys — the 1,435-person study above and a 2024 PinkCherry.ca customer survey of 190 respondents — both put vibrators well ahead of every other category, with dildos a distant second:

In the PinkCherry survey, at least half of dildo users said they used them with a partner rather than solo, and 67% of toy users overall said they used toys both solo and with a partner. Treat that split as light consumer data, not a population estimate, given the small, self-selected sample.
